Adobe Contribute CS3 is a program for editing websites. It's original intention was to allow a wider variety of people within an organization to update webpages. They accomplished this goal by reducing the amount of technical design skills needed for the process.

Contribute is primarily used by non-programmers as it employs an interface environment that allows those with little programming experience to keep website and blog content updated and edited.

There are pros and cons to using Contribute to create and edit your content, as opposed to a more complete design environment such as Adobe Dreamweaver CS3. Below is a list of advantages and disadvantages to Adobe Contribute.

Advantages:

Contribute eliminates the need for multiple programs to change simple errors such as changing spelling on a webpage.
Several users can update a website simultaneously.
Administrators can ensure the style, code and integrity of a website is preserved while allowing users to update the site content.
Administrators can assign different permissions to users; some users may be able to edit text on a page, while others would have more options.
Templates created using Dreamweaver can be used in contribute as well.
Allows management of multiple blog accounts and allows offline blog entry capabilities.

Disadvantages:

Contribute is a client-side application, so you will only be able to edit a website on a machine that has Contribute installed.
Contribute is a website editing tool, not a website design tool. A web designer will still be required to build the initial website.
Updating website content through Contribute may be slower than when using a more development-oriented tool, since each page must be downloaded and uploaded individually.
Users cannot access source code, therefore any coding must be done in Dreamweaver or another web design program.
